You know those DJs who get to your wedding and then decide they have to show everyone how cool they are by playing nothing but music that came out in the last 6 months? Nothing but 3 hours of dance music that only that small knot of “cool people” on the dance floor will know?

Yeah, well… your Grandma knows them. And you know what? She doesn’t like them. At all. In fact, she usually kind of half-dreads going to weddings because of DJs just like them.

I mean, come on! She’s getting all dressed up… even forcing Grandpa to put on his (1972 special) tie. She went over to your gift registry and got you the BIGGEST item on there because she knew almost nobody else would be able to. She’s excited to see her sisters and brothers and their wives at your wedding and she would love to… LOVE TO… party with her family : )

So this is where your decision on that DJ gets to be kind of important. Hopefully, he cares as much about your Grandma as he does about your cute friends and their cute boyfriends. In fact, if he’s the kind of DJ you’d really want, he cares, simply, about your guests – each and every single one of them – and about how great a time they will have at your wedding!

So with that in mind, let’s go back to Grandma.

Here are 10 songs that are pretty sure to get her dancing and smiling and remembering what a great time she had at your reception (and who knows – maybe your friends will like them too…?):

Old Time Rock N Roll – Bob Seger
Twist & Shout – The Beatles
Runaround Sue – Dion
In The Mood – Glenn Miller
Proud Mary – Creedence Clearwater Revival
Joy To The World – Three Dog Night
Sweet Caroline – Neil Diamond
Moondance – Van Morrison
Celebration – Kool & The Gang
We Are Family – Sister Sledge
